Evolving Our Practices

MOD-PAC is committed to sustainable packaging solutions by sourcing paperboard material from a certified chain of custody and non-controversial sources. We employ environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable practices to meet present needs without compromising future generations. This is accomplished by practicing and promoting a resource and conservation stewardship ethic.

Volatile Organic Compounds and Hazardous Waste Reductions

We continue to strive for better quality and better practices. Since 2017, MOD-PAC has invested over $35 million in new technologies and building improvements to support VOC and hazardous waste reduction initiatives and will continue to invest in our future. Those efforts have enabled us to reduce our 12-month rolling average of VOC emissions by 45% and our hazardous waste output by 78%.

Waste Recycling and Carbon Footprint

On average, we recycle 7,000 tons of paperboard and between 60,000 and 70,000 pounds of aluminum each year. Our environmental expectations are met not only by utilizing traditional recycling programs but also by using clean, renewable hydropower. A significant amount of our electricity is sourced from Niagara Falls.

Giving Back

MOD-PAC completed a Brownfield Cleanup Program initiative to remediate unused land on our campus. A portion of this land was then donated to a local school to build a new athletic complex that services several schools and communities in the Buffalo area.
